Pan-European PE Investor | B2B Technology | Part-time / Project-based | Carry participation

Gresham Executive is supporting a pan-European private equity investor focused on scaling B2B technology and tech-enabled services businesses. With an established portfolio and a strong track record in value creation, they are looking to further strengthen their operating model by adding a senior finance leader to their value creation team.

This role can be based in the UK or mainland Europe.

The role:

As Portfolio CFO / Operating Partner, you will work across a portfolio of c. 10–12 companies, partnering closely with both the investment team and portfolio management.

You will play a key role across the full private equity lifecycle, from due diligence and new investments to value creation and exit readiness, with a particular focus on strengthening financial performance and strategic execution.

Key responsibilities:

• Support new investments and financial due diligence, assessing scalability and value creation opportunities
• Partner with CEOs and management teams on strategy, go-to-market initiatives and long-term planning
• Drive value creation programmes, including KPI frameworks, financial steering and performance improvement
• Act as a senior financial advisor across the portfolio on key strategic and operational topics
• Support exit preparation, including reporting, structuring and equity story development
• Collaborate with the internal value creation team to further professionalise portfolio companies
  

Profile:

• Former CFO or senior finance executive with extensive private equity experience
• Proven track record across the full PE lifecycle, including successful exits
• Strong background in B2B technology and/or tech-enabled services
• Strong background in lower-mid market size portfolio companies
• Experience working across multiple portfolio companies or complex environments
• Strategic thinker with a hands-on, pragmatic approach
• Strong stakeholder management skills, able to operate at board and management level
• Willingness to travel across Europe
• Fluent in English; German & Dutch is a strong plus
