Head of Finance, Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

About the Company

The company is a fast-growing, private equity–backed group operating across multiple legal entities. The group is active in a consumer-oriented sector and is focused on building scalable, value-driven businesses with a strong emphasis on operational excellence, financial transparency, and sustainable growth.

Backed by a hands-on Private Equity investor, the group is currently in a phase of accelerated professionalisation and transformation. Key priorities include strengthening group-wide financial governance, improving data-driven decision-making, and supporting both organic growth and potential M&A activity.

The culture is pragmatic, entrepreneurial, and performance-oriented. Management works closely with the business, values clear ownership, and expects finance to act as a proactive business partner rather than a purely reporting function.

Role and Responsibilities

The Head of Finance (alternatively Head of FP&A and Controlling) plays a central role in supporting the next growth phase of the group and holds responsibility for the group-wide finance function across multiple subsidiaries.

This is a hands-on leadership role combining strategic oversight with operational involvement. The role requires close collaboration with executive management, shareholders, and operational leaders, with a clear mandate to drive value creation, transparency, and scalable financial processes.

The Head of Finance acts as a key sparring partner to the executive team and Private Equity shareholders, contributing to long-term growth initiatives and exit readiness.

Key responsibilities include:

Group finance leadership: Functional and professional leadership of the group-wide finance organisation, covering accounting, controlling, FP&A, and reporting across multiple entities.

Reporting & consolidation: Preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including consolidated group reporting and management dashboards.

FP&A & performance management: Ownership and development of the group FP&A calendar (Budget, Forecast, Latest Estimate, Long-Range Plan), including variance analysis, performance tracking, and actionable recommendations.

Business partnering: Acting as a finance business partner to management and operations, balancing financial discipline, risk management, and growth enablement.

Investment & cash management: Supporting investment appraisals, CapEx governance, working capital optimisation, and short- and mid-term cash forecasting.

Stakeholder management: Primary point of contact for Private Equity shareholders, auditors, banks, and other external stakeholders; preparation of board materials and decision papers.

Process & systems excellence: Driving the professionalisation and digitalisation of finance processes (fast close, reporting, budgeting, forecasting); supporting ERP/BI implementations and integration of newly acquired entities.

Transformation & M&A: Financial leadership in group-wide transformation initiatives, M&A transactions, and post-merger integration activities.

Strategic development: Initiating and facilitating workshops and initiatives to further develop the finance function and support group strategy.

Profile

The ideal candidate is a commercially minded finance leader who combines strong technical expertise with a business partner mindset. They are comfortable operating in a Private Equity environment and can move seamlessly between strategic discussions and hands-on execution.

They bring structure, insight, and challenge to a growing organisation and view finance as a driver of value creation rather than a back-office function.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has strong experience in group finance, FP&A, and controlling within a multi-entity environment.
• Is experienced in working with Private Equity shareholders and understands value creation and exit dynamics.
• Balances financial discipline, risk management, and growth orientation.
• Has strong strategic insight and can translate financial data into clear, actionable management decisions.
• Is entrepreneurial, pragmatic, and hands-on rather than overly corporate.
• Has high digital affinity and enjoys working with BI tools, data analytics, and modern finance systems.
• Has experience leading, developing, and scaling finance teams and processes.

Experience with LBO structures, investment models, and bank financing is highly valued. Prior Private Equity and exit experience is a strong plus.

Core Competencies

• Value creation focus; using finance to actively drive performance improvement and growth.
• Strategic and analytical strength; providing clarity, challenge, and insight to management and shareholders.
• Business partnering capability; effectively connecting finance with operations and strategy.
• Ownership and accountability; taking responsibility for outcomes, not just analysis.
• Digital mindset; leveraging systems, automation, and data to improve efficiency and decision-making.

Practical Information

Scope: Group-wide responsibility across multiple legal entities
Stakeholders: Executive management, Private Equity shareholders, auditors, banks
Focus areas: FP&A, reporting, fast close, budgeting, transformation, M&A
Growth ambition: Professionalisation, scalable finance function, value creation, and exit readiness
Commitment: Long-term role with significant impact on group development
